Why do You Run, If You Can Fly?

Lately in my travels on foot and by car i notice that many birds run frantically about. The best moment occurred on an early morning drive to the airport and this little sparrow is RACING across the road 100 gagillion miles an hour 80 feet in front of my oncoming vehicle. His little heart pounding and emitting “AAAHH got to get across got to get across…OH, OH OH …….!!!! (Of course he did safely for all you animal lovers out there). I laughed and said to him. Hey ding dong! (my affectionate term for silly actions) ‘Why do you run frantically across the road when you can fly? I mean really? Dude, whattup with choosing Stress for yourself?!?’

Okay, devils’ advocates out there, maybe he had a hurt wing (his legs were certainly fine). Maybe he had nearsightedness challenges so was afraid to hit the nearest tree or maybe he forgot who he was. Just Simply Forgot who he was and what he was actually born to do. FLY.

We continually analyze and ask Why so and so crosses the road, yet maybe it is time instead to ask How? And what condition is he in when he actually gets there? (catch my breath, catch my breath, too tired to focus, too tired to eat, freaked out, aaaah did you see that?!??!!? I Almost Got HIT By A Very BIG THING! And then continues to tell his friends about it all day and night and the next day too……Imagine if that HAD HAPPENED? Did you See IT !?!?! It was Horrible!.. CHEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!)

Or maybe we need to stop analyzing, worrying and projecting on Why we do what we do and What Has Happened as a result of What we do. Maybe its time to focus more on Who We Are and How we Choose to cross our road. And with Whom. Now. In Present Moment.


So the next time you notice yourself running frantically to remain distracted in the muck, drama and chaos of life, think instead of HOW you want to be in this moment. Are you the being who does better with your heart beating fast, brow sweating with the What Ifs, Told You So’s and C’est Terribles!??? Or are you one who can calmly step back, breathe deeply and remember who you really are? And how you want to be in that moment for yourself?


If you slow down enough to observe, experience and simply Be, you just may notice that you also have wings. And now its up to you to decide How and When You Want to Use Them.


So how did the human cross the road? Hmm….am not quite sure. The only thing i Do Know is they looked so happy flying that i had to stop what i was doing to Join Them.
